Foods with low IG numbers in addition to brown sugar are kidney beans, black beans, legumes, and whole grains such as whole grains, and most vegetables. On the other hand, white sugar or sucrose is classified into the intermediate GI in the IG 56-69 range.

However, keep in mind that IG numbers on the same food can vary depending on the source of the test. This number can also differ from one individual to another, depending on the processing process and what food is consumed with it.

This is because the calories and carbohydrate content are almost equivalent to white sugar, which is about four grams of carbohydrates and 15 calories per teaspoon. What's more, we must review the benefits of brown sugar on the market because it could have been mixed with cane sugar and other ingredients that can make the glycemic index high. Therefore, the key is if you want to use brown sugar as a sweetener, consume in limited quantities.

If you have diabetes and really want to eat sweet snacks, you can choose healthy alternative foods, such as fruit salad or fresh fruit. If you still want to use sugar, whatever the type of sugar, pay attention to the total amount of carbohydrates on the product label. That way, you can readjust your daily diet plan according to the amount of carbohydrate calculation allowed.
